Embroidery
Another Story of Palestinian Culture
Embroidery, an integral part of rural women’s lives, is a traditional art passed down from mothers to daughters and then to future generations. The moment a young girl can hold a needle with her small fingers, her mother begins teaching her this ancient craft. She learns the art of embroidery—a harmonious blend of interwoven colors.
Women practice embroidery as a way to reflect Palestinian culture, apply their knowledge of the craft, and spend their free time in meaningful work. It also provides women with an opportunity to participate alongside men in supporting their families and earning an income.
